The thesis is dedicated to the study of clinical and functional features of joint disease in patients with osteoarthritis in combination with obesity. There has been an investigation on inflammatory mechanisms of obesity with its burdensome impact on the course of osteoarthritis by means of examination of the content of leptin and inflammatory markers: C-reactive protein, interleukin-1beta, interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha. A comparative analysis between clinical and anti-inflammatory effectiveness of chondroprotectors monotherapy was made, as well as analysis of their combination in patients with osteoarthritis and obesity. In patients with osteoarthritis coupled with obesity the insufficient efficiency of chondroprotectors monotherapy was established. Reasons were provided for the necessity of joint application of a combination of structure-modifying medicine with different action mechanisms and justifications were made in favor of their high anti-inflammatory and clinical effectiveness as compared with monotherapy.
