The thesis is devoted to the research and development of three-fuel petrol-gas fuel system for the improvement of the efficient and environmental characteristics of the motor engines with spark ignition. The fuel system (protected by patents of Ukraine №33678 and №63630A) that provides the ICE operation on three types of fuel: petrol, mixture of gas and petrol, with variable octane number of mixture, and gas fuel that is injected into the engine under overpressure, has been developed. The mathematical model of operation processes of a gas regulator of petrol-gas fuel system of motor ICE for the research into characteristics of gas dosage system has been developed. Adequacy of the model has been tested on the basis of experimental data. To define the characteristics of the ZMZ-513 engine and truck automobile GAS-3307 with petrol-gas fuel system, when they operate on petrol A-76, binary mixture of petrol A-55 with CNG, and CNG, the experimental research has been carried out. The results have shown that when the engine working on petrol mixture (A-55+ CNG), the substitution of petrol for CNG in loading modes varies within 0…39%, and its energy characteristics improve in comparison to operation on CNG - the engine rated capacity increases by 10%, which leads to the improvement of car acceleration characteristics by 7%. The change of fueling from petrol A-76 to petrol-gas mixture is accompanied by the improvement of engine's characteristics (mainly due to the NOx concentration decrease in exhaust-gases by 25…50%), partial reduction of capacity and dynamic characteristics of the automobile by 9% and 13% accordingly. On the basis of obtained results, the total mass emissions of certain pollutants (CO, CH, NOx), reduced to CO, have been calculated. It has been found out that the most toxic is a petrol (A-76) engine power mode, which emission is, on average, 1,4 times more harmful than petrol-gas mode and 1,8 more harmful than the gas mode.
