The dissertation firsty investigates the important sources on the history of the Sloboda Ukraine nobility - Genealogical book of the nobility of Kharkov province and sources related to the preparation of this book (alphabetical lists of the nobility and extracts evidence of nobility). On the basis of complex study it is found out the number, the structure, social status, financial position and genealogical ties of the Cossack officialdom families of the Sloboda Ukraine, method by which they argued their rights to the nobility.
