Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of piezooptic effect and calculation of elasto- and acoustooptic properties of CaWO4 crystals. A polarization-optical device for determination of induced changes of the retardation in reflected light, a method for studying temperature changes of piezooptic coefficients and technique to improve accuracy of the absolute piezooptic coefficients based on a combination of interferometric and polarization-optical methods were proposed. Relations for calculation the absolute piezooptic coefficients for tetragonal crystals were obtained and all components of piezooptic coefficients matrix of studied crystals were experimentally obtained.
