Object: scientific, literature criticism, archive, epistolary inheritance of I. Shyshmanov. Aims: to define the place of I. Shyshmanov in literary сultural, public and political life of Ukraine at the end of ХІХ - the first quarter of the 20th century, and to consider the contribution of scientist to development of comparative literary criticism, slavic studies and specially ukrainian studies in Bulgaria. Practical value: material of dissertation can be used for teaching of courses of Bulgarian, Ukrainian and world literatures, comparative literary studies. Methods: comparative-historical, comparable-typical, historical-genetic, biographical, system-integral.
