Essay

Object: apoptotic and necrotic processes and effects of ultralow frequency magnetic fields (MF ELF). Purpose: to clarify the modifying influence of the magnetic field with ultralow frequency on thymocytes injury caused by hydrogen peroxide in the presence of melanin and nanoporous silicon. Methods: fluorescence microscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, neutral comet essay, statistical processing of results. Results: the data show that MF ELF can possibly modulate biological activity of certain substances, particularly based on nanostructured compounds, such as nanoporous silicon. These studies can be used to develop new approaches to the activation or inhibition of apoptosis under the combined influence of MF ELF and biologically active substances and substances. Originality: It is shown that MF ELF performs modifying effects on peroxidation damage, increasing the number of cells with features of apoptosis, including mostly cells with condensed chromatin. For the first time it is shown that natural melanin under the influence of MF ELF does not exhibit entirely their antioxidant properties. It is shown that in the presence of light nanostructured silicon shows its oxide properties, acting as a proapoptotic factor, in the absence of light its proapoptotic effect is not observed. It is shown that MF ELF increases intracellular free calcium both as the separate influence and as the combined influence with hydrogen peroxide. Scope: biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology.
