The thesis is devoted to solving an actual problem of pediatrics to improve the quality of diagnosis and prediction of the prolonged course of "physiological" jaundice of newborns (FJN) based on the study of the factors that influence on the prolonged course of this state. The most significant antenatal and intranatal factors of prolonged course of FJN were revealed on the basis of complex examination. The clinical features of children with prolonged course of FJN were defined. The serum levels of pituitary hormones (adrenocorticotropic and thyroid-stimulating hormones), thyroid hormones (free fraction of thyroxin and triiodothyronine), adrenal hormone (cortisol) were studied. The features of hormonal status of children with prolonged course of FJN were defined. The nature of the correlation between factors of prolonged course of FJN and the serum bilirubin level was studied. The mathematical model for prediction of the prolonged course of FJN was developed on the base of the most important revealed diagnostic factors.
