The thesis is devoted to the study of musical performance as a phenomenon, from genesis to modern genre-style transformation. A number of issues, associated with the genre situation and conditions of existence of art in contemporary culture, the interaction of musical and theatrical art origins in the synthesis of musical theater, the definition of dominance of a particular component in particular choir, which became permanent in the structure of musical performance, are highlighted.The definition of "musical performance" and "theatrical and musical production" are given.
