Essay

The thesis focuses on the representation of the concept of DEATH in the worldview of the English-speaking community. In the framework of G. Lakoff and M. Johnson's theory, DEATH is represented through conceptual metaphors, verbalized by euphemistic expressions, since DEATH is usually a taboo subject. All in all, the material analysed suggests the existence of 14 conceptual metaphors, used to refer to the concept of DEATH in the English-speaking society.
