Essay

The dissertation is devoted to search criteria and determine the prognostic role of the serum components of proteolysis, apoptosis and antiendotoxin immunity for the estimation X-ray therapy efficacy in patients with malignant tumors. Trypsin-like and elastase-like activities, level of alpha-1-proteinase inhibitor, acid stable inhibitors, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, caspase 8, p53, Ig G, M, A and antiendotoxin antibodies in serum of 134 patients with malignant tumors and under X-ray therapy it was studied. The study was performed in patients with malignant tumors of different localization both operated and nonoperated as wel as with the application of radiomodifying agents. The most informative indices that may use as additional criteria for evaluation of radiation therapy efficacy are recommended. Clinical efficacy of radiation therapy is accompanied by decrease of alpha 1-proteinase inhibitor level and the increase of TNF-alpha in serum of patients. Normalization of alpha-1-proteinase inhibitor activity with increasing of serum TNF-alpha level can be recommended to use as biomarkers of the radiation therapy efficacy.
