The object: is a small prose of J. Joyce ( a collection of stories "Dubliners") and Chekhov's stories (1880s.-1900s.). The aims: of the work is to reveal the specifics of the individually author implementation of poetical features of small prose in J. Joyce's and Chekhov's writing and typological compliance in artistic-aesthetic search of both authors. The practical value: results can be used both in the development of common literary courses in higher educational establishments.
