The thesis deals with the study of the sources, origin and transformation of "Ukrainian historical school" in Polish romantic historiography of the 19th century. In the research a periodization of the organization's development stages has been proposed and theoretically validated, and scholarly endeavour of the organization's prominent representatives has been determined. It is proved that basic principles of a general theoretical approach to the comprehension of Ukrainian history within the framework of Polish romantic school are: providential interpretation of history and absolutization of the role of Polish-Ukrainian relations in the past. The research discloses the essence of the fundamental theoretical postulates of the school, namely, of such doctrines as "Polish Kulturtreger", "Eastern Kresy", "Yagellonian concept" and others.
