Complex analysis of the newspaper periodicals of Ukraine of the last quarter of the 19th - early 20th centuries has been made in the aspect of their information value while describing political history of Serbia in 1878 - 1918. A wide range of the newspapers publications and archival funds have been researched for the peculiarities of the representation and reporters' evaluation of the high profile and outstanding events within Serbian state from its proclamation during the Congress of Berlin in 1878 till its inclusion to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in 1918. The reasons for the heightened interest of the Ukrainian society to the Serbian people fate in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries have been defined. Ukrainian war journalism development has been studied from the evidence of the Balkan warfare reports during the Balkan Wars (1912 - 1913) and World War 1.
