Object - the process of teaching students in higher economic educational institution; the aim - to find out the influence of theoretically substantiated and experimentally checked theory of modelling skills forming in students of higher economic educational institutions in the process of their self-learning activities on the efficiency of training specialists of economic specialities; methods - theoretical, empirical, methods of mathematical statistics; novelty - the research has been the first one to provide the classification of skills of modelling economic objects, the technology of modelling skills forming in students of higher economic educational institutions in the process of their self-learning activities has been theoretically substantiated and experimentally checked, the terms "skills of modelling economic objects", "self-learning activities of students of higher economic educational institutions" have been defined and specified; results - the technology of modelling skills forming in the process of students' self-learning activities has been scientifically and experimentally checked and is recommended for the implementation in professional training of students of higher educational institutions. The efficiency of the technology has been checked by the author in teaching "Statistics", "Economic Analysis", Statistics of Enterprises" and by other lecturers in teaching various disciplines; field - pedagogy
