The dissertation deals with the problem of establishment and development of medieval studies as an academic discipline in the Lviv University during 1784-1914. On the basis of the archived materials and published papers of scientists, the studying process, teaching and scientific researches of history of Middle Ages in the Lviv University were investigated. The development of medieval researches is outlined at the philosophical, legislative and theological departments of the university, staff of the departments and subjects of lecture courses.
