Essay

The material has been presented by 120 cases of BPH obtained after prostatectomy and by 33 multifocal biopsies from patients with prostate cancer. The following methods were performed: histological, immunohistochemical, radiometrical and statistical analysis. For the first time we have shown that long-term low-dose ionizing radiation exposure leads to overexpression of ?-Н2АХ (DNA damage marker) as well as iNOS (oxidative stress marker) and Bcl-2 (apoptosis inhibitor). For these patients firstly revealed chronic atypical proliferative prostatitis (CAPP), that is positive background for prostate cancer. CAPP characterized by pathognomic regions of proliferative inflammatory atrophy (PIA with great DNA damage, high cell proliferation with increased protein expression of ?-Н2АХ, iNOS, р53, Bcl-2, Кі-67, and decrease of р16INK4a, p27Kip1, р63 protein expression. In long-term low-dose ionizing radiation conditions PIA for patients with BPH may get value of precancer lesions.
