Сhepurda H. Problems and Poetics of Annie Proulx's Prose of the 80's - 90's of the XX Century

The thesis is focused on the analysis of the dominant features of Annie Proulx's poetics, its functional and aesthetic peculiarities are revealed. The artistic originality of the concept of the individuality and the world in the postmodern aspect is displayed. The content, genre and style dominants of short story and novel poetics, their specific character in the context with the typologically related phenomena in American literature of 80s - 90s of the XX century are exposed. Annie Proulx's prose is analyzed in the aspect of postmodernism, regionalism, feminism, western as mass literature genre. The conceptual and functional basis of the mythological images in Annie Proulx' novel "The Shipping News", poetics of short stories of "Heart Songs" and "Brokeback Mountain", structure of a novel "Postcards" are analyzed. Proulx's fiction may be also seen as a part of a late twentieth-century trend toward a new regionalism.
