Essay

The PhD work is devoted to the study of defective phages & to the analysis of changes in the yield of defective phage components that occur during the population dissociation & lysogenic state establishing. A fundamentally new method for identification, electophoretic separation & analysis of virus containing samples in native system was suggested for the first time. The bacterial lysates of the reference strain E. carotovora subsp. carotovora 153 obtained by mitomycin C induction were characterized by the three types of virus-like particles. Colispecific carotovoricines that possess nonspecific endonuclease activity were determined for the first time. It was shown that the lysogenic state establishing by the viable temperate phage ZF40 & E. carotovora population dissociation increase the frequency of defective phages induction. Type ІІ & ІІІ secretion systems' activity correlates with the bacteriocins' activity increase during the population dissociation from S to R-type. It was established that the chromatographic profiles of VLP are unique & conservative characteristic of E.carotovora polylysogenic strains. The chromatographic profiles of VLP can also be used for rapid determination of the true lysogeny or pseudolysogenic state of Enterobacteriaceae.
