Essay

The work covers types of speech acts represented in live speech of film dialogues, their prosody reflecting the intention of the speaker. Criteria for multiple aspects of analysis offered and employed in practice. Computer and statistics also used. The novelty of the work lies in foregrounding the functional relevance of each of the leading parameters of speech - the melodic, dynamic and temporal components of intonation. Application of the methodology and results recommended predomi- nantly for academic purposes.
