The work is devoted to scientific research of activity from closing of the criminal case on the stage of pre-trial investigation. historical development of grounds of closing of the criminal case on the pre-trial stage is investigated. Taking into account the situations of decision of criminal-legal conflict, the function of criminal proceeding, which is carried out by the organs of pre-trial investigation, and also judicial consequences of application different grounds of closing of criminal case, it is formulated the definition of decision about closing of the criminal case on the stage of pre-trial investigation and classified the grounds of this decision.
