Kaparulin Y. O.O.Ryabinin-Sklyarevskiy (1878–1942): an intellectual biography of the historian.

The thesis is devoted to the reproduction of the intellectual biography of O. Ryabinin-Sklyarevskiy. The main directions of historical research and necessity of their integrated study have been determined based on the analysis of the historiography of the problem and a wide range of sources of scientific works of the scientist. Military-scientific work of the scientist, work on the history of archives, the Cossacks, social and revolutionary movements, historical and literary research, publicistic articles have been analysed to reproduce the evolution of O. Ryabinin-Sklyarevskiy’s worldview, his historical views, concepts, social and political position. The connection between research of the scientist with the conditions of military service and archival work has been established during different periods of life. A contribution of the researcher to the development of the various problems of the Military science, the History of Ukraine, the value and place of his scientific work in the historiographical process of the late ХІХ – early ХХІ centuries has been detected and prospects for the use of the creative work of the scientist have been determined.
