Essay

Subject-matter - novels by G.Roy, A.Hebert, L.Bersianik, N.Brossard. Objective - analysis of feminine novel and its typology in Quebec literature. Methods - historical literary methodology, concepts of the present-day narratology and receptive aesthetics, elements of linguostylistic analysis. The dissertation is the first attempt in the Ukrainian literary studies to carry out a diachronic analysis of Quebec women's novels typology in terms of functioning of the gender identity concept and the artistic ways of its implementation. Due to the analysis of the most remarkable novels by G. Roy, A. Hebert, L. Bersianik, N. Brossard one may trace the evolution of the strategies of the gender identity representation in French Canadian women's novels starting from the time they originated in the 1930s, through the first pre-feminist novel by G. Roy in the middle of century, feminine works with quite clearly represented models of female subjectivity, written in the 1960-70s, radical feminism inspired utopian novels and romans a these of the late 1970'-80's and up to the postfeminist novels of the late 80's. The connection between feminine writing strategies developed by Quebec women-writers and occidental feminist thought of the XX century is revealed. Application field - education and scholarings.
