The PhD Thesis is devoted to solution of the research problems in accordance with using of the optical cable with the strip type of core in modern access networks and improvement of the given type cable. The analysis of the modern access networks is organized and the advantage of the FTTH access network as the most perspective access network of the future is stated. The most optimum type of the optical cable, containing maximum amount of the optical fibres is determined. This is an optical cable with a strip type of core. To take into account constructive particularity of the given type cable, on the grounds of theories of screwed sticks are received main mechanical features, correlations of the Hooke's law for sticks with natural screw, complete system of the motion equations. The method of calculation, which is useful for determination of the stress in optical fibres of the optical cable with the strip type of core, is offered. This allows in step of designing to evaluate reliability and longevity of the given type optical cable. The method of calculation of the radius of optical fibre curvature in composition of strip type of core depending on place of its location in core and step of screw is designed. It is the base for loss calculation on constructive bends of optical fibres. On the ground of beam analysis an analytical expression for calculation of the group velocity in optical fibre is received. This allows determining the differential group delay for orthogonal modes at presence of polarization mode dispersion.
