Essay

The object is the state of historical science in difficult and contradictory time of alteration (second half of 1980th - to beginning 1990th). The aim is to educe and analyze the basic problem of Late Soviet historiography (1987 - 1991) of political repression late 1920 - early 1950's. The methods are comparative, problem-chronologic and retrospective. The dissertation is the first systematic study of the Ukrainian historical scholarship, which comprehensively analyzes the reasons for launching the study during the reconstruction of the phenomenon of mass political repression that took place in the USSR in late 1920 - early 1950's, found that the problem of mass political repression of public opinion late 1980 - early 1990's was one of the most important. Updating the theme of mass political repression took place after the publication of the first half of 1987 still forbidden to print the works of famous writers and poets (А.Tvardovsky, A. Akhmatova, A. Rybakov and many others). Resonance caused by raising the problem of mass political repression was so powerful that it repeatedly sought state and party leaders. Throughout the restructuring issue of political repression has remained one of the central in public discussions. Application sphere is scientific researches and training courses.
