The thesis examines the genre peculiarities of the English neo-Victorian novel of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The English neo-Victorian novel is considered as an evolving phenomenon that is why this thesis offers to differentiate between the two generations of the English neo-Victorian novel: 'early neo-Victorian novel' and 'late neo-Victorian novel'. The definition of the late neo-Victorian novel is offered. The thesis singles out and systematizes the postmodern characteristics of the late neo-Victorian novel and analyses the reflection of Victorian traditions and symbols as well as Victorian literary canon peculiarities in it. The thesis ascertains the genre peculiarities of the English late neo-Victorian novel.
