Essay

The thesis is devoted to investigation accumulation and localization of sodium ions in the tissues of glycophytes and halophytes of the Crimea during adaptation to salinity. It is shown that an adaptation strategy of glycophytes maize plants to salt stress goes through redistribution of Na+ ions: their localization predominantly is found in the roots, protecting the organs of above-ground parts, that at some level contributes to the biomass production process in these circumstances. Large role in the adaptation of these plants lays removal of "excessive" Na+ into free space and vacuole of cells of the root, i.e. adaptation mechanisms also operate at the cellular level.
