Essay

Immunologic criteria for prognosis in acute Epstein-Barr virus іnfection in 123 patients with acute Epstein-Barr virus іnfection were evaluated. Diagnosis in all patients was confirmed by serologic tests. Evaluation of a type of immune response will allow timely administration of modern treatment (antiviral agents and supportive care) timely.Levels of cytokines IFN-?, IL-2, IL-4, IL-10 were studied in 123 patients with Epstein-Barr infection. The concentration of IL-2, IL-4, IL-10 was increased significantly (р<0,01) in all patients, especially in those severely illed, decreased level of alfa-interferon was revealed in patients with acute Epstein-Barr infection. These are the reasons for persistent infection with Epstein-Barr virus and chronization. Prognosis of clinical failure was based on evaluation of spectrum and level of cytokines which were investigated at the onset of acute іnfection. These cytokines are characteristic for individual type of immune response and allow to estimate dynamics of disease at the larly stage.
