Dissertation is devoted to the research of music and historic tendencies of programmed trends development in the piano duo genre, establishment by performance practice of XX-XXI centuries, to the detection of connection between piano ensemble tasks and programmed impulses of the work. In this research there are analyzed the works of native and foreign composers of XIX-XX centuries, there are defined content types, which are most characteristic of the programmed work of piano duo genre and which form theme groups, among are: "musical circus","musical sport", "musical flora", "musical fauna", "musical fairy-tale", "musical portrait" etc.
