The thesis is devoted to theoretical and legal aspects of data protection in Ukraine. The paper analyzes the various research positions to understand the concept of "personal data" and set value the concepts of "personal information", "personal information", "confidential information about a person" and other related concepts used in research and regulations as synonymous. Under the current Ukrainian legislation singled out the main components of personal data.
