Essay

The research is devoted to aseismic strength enhancement of buildings with steel braced framing on the base of ring-type energy absorber (REA). Engineering design method of ring-type energy absorber's geometrical parameters is developed. The method makes it possible to calculate the annular cross-section depending on the effects of earthquake and accepted level of REA's elastic-plastic deformations, here taking into account dynamic characteristics of building itself.
