The dissertation suggests interpretation of the genre of online diary as a phenomenon of virtual literature. The paper analyzes the samples of virtual diaries and characterizes their literary profile; comprehends the modifications of online diary; actualizes the problems and prospects of research of online diary in virtual genres discourse and digital knowledge of the genre, the leading genre dominants are determined, specific features of poetry, ways of authors expression in the process of writing a blog, the place and importance of modern diaries (blogs) in the literary and artistic process.
