Essay

The thesis is the first research into the typological similarities and artistic peculiarities of the genre varieties based on the works of American and Ukrainian literatures of the 1920-30's. There are defined the reasons and pre-requisites of the detective genre's appearance in American and Ukrainian literatures and the main stages of the genre's evolution, there are examined the ways of combining the realist trend in a literary work with the pragmatic aspect, there is generalized and systematized the theory connected with the genre's development.
