Essay

Historiography of the USA and Canada of 1960s–2000s in the context of early modern history of Ukraine is investigated in this Ph.D. thesis. There are presented trends and scientific periodization of historical science in these countries. In particular, there have been analyzed works within the so-called author's periodization periods – implementing and rethinking. From 1960s–1970s some works on English have declared by its ideas the entering of Ukrainian issues into intellectual field of academic science of the USA and Canada.  In theoretical aspect this dissertation complement the previous conclusions of Ukrainian science, that the foundation of the Ukrainian Research Institute, Harvard University, and the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies of University of Alberta was an important factor of influence on the development of foreign Ukrainian studies. This process was associated with the task of the Ukrainian community and North American scientists to assist in the foundation of separate institutions for in-depth and objective study of Ukrainian past from the viewpoint of academic science.
