The thesis is devoted to the complex study of the actual in the present conditions practical and theoretical problems of providing social services to the Ukrainian population in the sphere of social security. The author defines the notion and types of social services, identifies their place and role. The characteristic was given to the human right for social services; its legal guarantees were determined and analyzed. It was studied a legal status of a person as a subject recipient of social services; considered legal peculiarities of certain categories of population recipient of social services.
