The thesis focuses on structural, typological, functional and pragmatic features of English borrowings in the modern French media discourse. The research provides a theoretical basis for the study of English borrowings in the modern French media discourse. A methodology for structural, typological, functional and pragmatic analyses of the borrowings under consideration has been elaborated. The notions of lexical borrowing, English borrowing and Anglicism have been clarified. The thesis establishes linguistic and extralinguistic factors of English borrowings in the modern French language and singles out their thematic groups in the media discourse. Main pragmatic functions of Anglicisms in the modern French mass media have been determined and characterised.
