Essay

The object is the works by О. Wilde dedicated to foreign cultural topic: "Russian" drama "Vera, or Nihilists" (1880), "Italian" tragedy "Duchess of Padua" (1883), "American" story "The Canterville ghost" (1887). The aim is the investigation of sources and peculiarities of O. Wilde's embodiment of specific features of other cultures: Russian, Italian and American. The following methods are used: historico-literary, interdisciplinary, "close reading". The thesis is dedicated to the investigation of O. Wilde's early creative art in the context of the writer's reference to three cultures - Russian, Italian and American. The research is carried out upon the reasons of the aesthete's interest to foreign cultural material as well as the manner and ways of interpretation of foreign cultural topic. The role of foreign cultural component in the formation of aesthetic philosophy and literary principles is defined. Scope - literary studies, the learning process.
