Essay

This dissertation focuses on revealing semantic, typological and functional peculiarities of the dialect words and word combinations which represent the dialect picture of the world in the German language as well as on exposing similarity and difference in verbalization the dominant lingua-cultural concepts of German ethnical communities. The structure of the dialect picture of the world in the German language is represented as the unity of three cognitive spheres: MAN - NATURE - CULTURE. In these cognitive spheres the cognitive domain MAN is the most significant, owing to its referent versatile nature and the anthropocentricism of the language. Zoonyms and especially phytonyms which verbalize the cognitive sphere NATURE have undergone specialization (terminologization) and despecialization (determinologization), because of the wide use by some ethno-communities for the reflection of lingua-cultural concepts. Cognitive sphere CULTURE is mostly represented by non-equivalent lexical units which denote specific notions, characteristic of a certain ethno-culture. Key words: dialect picture of the world, cognitive sphere, lingua-cultural concepts, dialect, specialization, despecialization, ethno-culture.
