This dissertation deals with theoretical and practical aspects of the economic mechanism of the field of horticulture. It is investigated the conceptual basis of the efficiency of production and it is formed the methodological approaches to the efficiency and competitiveness of horticulture in view of the probable effect of integral factors variation and natural economic risks. It is analyzed the trends of volume and range changes, cost-effectiveness of production and outlets, the elasticity of demand and supply of fruit and berries products, it is also defined the peculiarities of functioning of the economic mechanism of the industry.
