Essay

The thesis is dedicated to theoretical and practical issues of product competitiveness of sugar production in agro-industrial complex, and methods for its improving to ensure the effective development of this industry sector. The thesis covers the theoretical aspects of product competitiveness by means of extraction of the economic content of competition as the driving force of enterprise development, determination of its forms and functions, summarizing the scientist's views to assess the product competitiveness. The essence of economic categories "competition", "competitiveness", "product competitiveness" was defined. It was proposed to improve a classical model of competitive environment taking into account the impact of state policies on sugar producers in Ukraine. The nowadays state of sugar subcomplex of Ukrainian agrarian sector was studied and conditions for the competitiveness formation in this industry sector were defined. Also, activity of sugar factories for sugar beet processing was estimated. The competitiveness factors and their impact were found, the valuation of product competitiveness of sugar production in Ukraine was made. Suggestions to ensure the product competitiveness of sugar beet industry due to increasing of the efficiency in agriculture and the effectiveness of beet processing at sugar factories, as well as diversification of sugar subcomplex and improvement of state regulation for sugar production were grounded.
