Teslya V. Interjections in the Modern German Language: Cultural, Communicative and Pragmatic Aspects

This thesis focuses on cultural, communicative and pragmatic peculiarities of interjections in the modern German language.The research determines the linguistic status of interjections in the light of recent theoretical assumptions and develops a methodology applicable to the study of the specified aspects of interjections. Their language and speech characteristics have been singled out and their etymological sources in the German language have been traced. Interjections are described as the carriers of cultural codes (somatic, spiritual, sensory, religious). The thesis offers the analysis of communicative and pragmatic peculiarities of interjections: they have been classified according to their illocutionary force and their functions in the emotionally charged context have been established.
