Essay

Dissertation is dedicated to study of species composition of insect pest complex on amaranth, specification of their biology and ecology and also development of some elements of protective measures that limit their populations. It's ascertained that entomofauna of amaranth in conditions of Eastern Forest Steppe of Ukraine is presented by over 250 insect species. Among them 11 pest species are revealed, which are divided by their way of nutrition into such groups: leaf-eating, cutworms, hidden-stem and sucking pests, and by importance for agriculture -- the main (Lixus subtilis Boh., Aphis fabae Scop. and Scotia segetum Schiff.) and secondary (grass bug and Auchenorrhyncha)
