Essay

The limit load analytical model of thick-walled pipe with axial surface defect is developed. The model is taking into account influence the radial stresses and defect location. The numerical procedure of reference stresses calculation of thick-walled pipe with circumferential surface complex shape defect under multifactor load is proposed. The correctness of developing model and procedure is confirmed by the results of full-scale burst tests on pipes with notches. The conditional boundary between leak and break of pipe with surface axial defects under internal pressure is experimental justified.
