The thesis investigates the literary myth-creating in its evolutionary aspect on the basis of the mythological discourse of the Second World War. The author provides the distinction between the two types of the mythological, the traditional and the contextual, treating the war as both an object and a model of myth-making. The war myth is presented in the continuous dynamics of text-creating via the dialectics of transition from the bound (motivated) to the universal. In case of changes in cultural and ideological paradigms, the process of demythologization can be observed. The general features of the mythological systems of the USSR and the Third Reich, required for the perception of war in its functioning as a contemporary encoding system, are defined.
