Sadovnyk-Chuchvaha N. Functioning of the Category of Gender in the English Mythopoetic Texts of the VII-X and XX-XI сent.: Quantitative and Cognitive Aspects

Various views on the peculiarities of the functioning of gender system in Old and Modern English, and on the means of gender expression were analyzed; the semantics of the concepts of the mythic worldview was determined, and the connection between the gender of nouns and their semantics, as well as the conceptual content of the notions expressed by them in the mythopoetic texts of two periods was established; the regularities of the functioning of the category of gender in the mythopoetic texts based on the means of its expression were studied; quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the functioning of gender were outlined, and the segment structure of the conceptual system of three genders was described.
