The thesis is devoted to solution of the issue of improving of medical care effectiveness for very preterm newborns with birth weight of less than 1500 g using improved methods for intraventricular hemorrhages (IVH) diagnosis and prevention. Results of complex clinical, instrumental, biochemical and immunological investigation of 111 very preterm newborns are presented in the thesis. The new data about incidence of early and late IVH and their complications have been obtained. Significant risk factors for development of early and late IVH have been found. A relationship between infectious maternal pathology, complicated early clinical neonatal course, inflammatory response, serum level of interleukin-6 above 50 pg/ml and early IVH development has been proved. Diagnostic value of selected clinical signs has been evaluated. Based on the study of clinical and morphological evolution of IVH the recommendations for head ultrasound investigation have been developed. The obtained results allowed proposing the complex strategy for IVH prevention.
