Essay

This thesis is devoted to search of new etiopathogenetic stages of allergic rhinitis development, in particular, possible role of excessive nickel/chromium concentration in the environment and human organism. The paper includes eco-logical-epidemiological comparison between allergic rhinitis cases in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, researches nickel/chromium content in blood serum, nasal and hair lavage of patients with various clinical forms of allergic rhinitis, provides insight into the impact of 4 concentrations of these metals on blast-transforming activity of peripheral blood lymphocytes and their production of nitric oxide in the organism of patients with allergic rhinitis in vitro. In complex treatment with glucocorticosteroids, the nitric oxide concentration definitely reduces both in serum and nasal lavage of patients with allergic rhinitis. The research, pursued in relation to effect of immunopharmacotherapy, therapy with antiallergic medication combined with enterosorbents, proves rea-sonability of this well-tested treatment regimen. The main achievement of this research is medical cases, showing reduction of heavy metals content in the or-ganism of people, ill with allergic rhinitis, so it not only improves patients' im-munological characteristics upon the therapy, but is also an indication of signifi-cant role of heavy metals in allergic rhinitis genesis and course. It is appropriate to define the heavy metals content in blood and upper air-ways secretion among patients with allergic rhinitis, living in polluted environ-ment. Complex pharmacotherapy of patients with perennial allergic rhinitis shall include medication of efferent therapy, in particular, Enterosgel and pectins.
