The dissertation focuses on the complex approach to analyzing the vocabulary of the English animal language for specific purposes with regard to its structural and semantic, cognitive, communicative-functional characteristics in paradigmatic and syntagmatic aspects. Language for specific purposes is considered to be the complex of all means being used in professionally restricted area of communication in order to ensure mutual understanding among people working in the given sphere. The functioning of language for specific purposes is provided with accurately determined terminology. The research presents the study of the ANIMAL concept done from the standpoint of cognitive linguistics. The main peculiarities of term functioning in English animal husbandry professional texts and level of their terminological saturation are under analysis.
