Essay

X-ray quasi-monochromatic source based on electrostatic proton accelerator is constructed and tested. The distinctive feature of the source is using ion-optical focusing system of quadrupole electrostatic lenses, installed on straight channel of accelerator without collimators. Experimental measurements show that monochromaticity of the source is not less than 93% when using copper converter. In order to find ways of optimizing the source parameters the theoretical calculations and experimental measurements of K-line X-ray yield were performed. The analysis of different types of X-ray optics can conclude the following: in order to obtain maximum flux of X-ray quasi-monochromatic radiation on the target is acceptable to use polycapillary optics. Source boundary parameters calculations show that using 69Ga metal-jet as target and 3 MeV 1 mA proton beam allow to obtain flux from the source of about 2.7E12 photons/(s·sr).
