The thesis considers structural-semantic and functional aspects of French and English borrowings in the Modern Persian language. The thesis traces the chronology of Iranian-French and Iranian-English economical, literary, cultural contacts. French and Englisn borrowings are classificated into the several groups such as: social, political, technical, millitary, phisical, biological and computer terminology. Peculiarities of formation the main lexico-semantic groups and peculiarities of phonetic, semantic and grammatical adaptation of French and English borrowings in Persian Language are observed in the thesis. According to the semantic criterion some types of borrowings are singled out such as: 1) pure borrowings, 2) loan-words, 3) semantic borrowings. The thesis distinguishes words with specifical semantic: exotisms which are used for nomination of some foreign phenomena, customs, clouthes, and ideology. Besides, among French and English borrowings loanwords are distinguished. In the thesis two types of loan-words are determined such as: 1) phraseological loan-words, 2) wordbuilding loan-words. The wordbuilding loan-words consist of four models, which are based on French borrowings and Persian components. In the thesis it is proved that French borrowings in the Modern Persian language undergo of phonetic, semantic and grammatic adaptation which on the fuctioning level is the evidence of their active penetrating the lexical system of Modern Persian. One of the most extended way of phonetic adaptation of French borrowings is emergence of protetic vowels between two or several syllabes. As for grammatic adaptation of French and English borrowings their were comletely integrated into all grammatical categories of the Modern Persian language. For the analyse 591 borrowed items were choosen out of the genereal number of the analysed body (1000 lexical items). French borrowings comprise 441 lexical items and English comprise 151 lexical items. This thesis consists of three chapters, the list of references and four supplements. The first and second supplements illustrate using French and Englsh borrowing in different styles of Modern Persian. In the third and fourth supplements the glossary of French and English borrowings is presented.
