The thesis is devoted to the theoretical and practical issues of formation and development of the right of elderly people to social protection. It was studied the generation of social protection of elderly people and defined its main historical stages. The legal status of elderly people was clarified. The author gave his own determination to such notions as "social protection of elderly people", "special legal status of elderly people", "state policy in the sphere of social protection of elderly people", "legal guarantees of the right to work", "social services".
